A Dialect Poem by Edwin Waugh 1817 - 1890

Toddlin' Whoam

picToddlin' whoam fro' th' market rant;
Toddlin' whoam, content an' cant;
Wi mi yed i' my hat,
An' my feet i' my shoon;
I'm fain to be toddlin' whoam.

picToddlin' whoam, for th'fireside bliss,
Toddlin' whoam, for th'childer's kiss;
God bless yon bit o' curlin' smook,
God bless yon cozy chimbley nook!
I'm fain to be toddlin' whoam.

picToddlin' whoam for twitterin' sungs;
Toddlin' whoam for prattlin' tungs;
Toddlin' whoam, to sink to rest
Wi' th'wife, an'little brids i' th'nest,
I'm fain to be toddlin' whoam.
